Gotta catch 'em all!

As you might have seen in my previous post Gio has recently started to enjoy playing the Pokemon game. When we were at Michael's last week we saw a little packet of Pokemon cards, which Gio wanted to buy, but alas, he didn't have enough spending money saved up. I happened to have a coupon, so we made a deal that I would purchase the cards with my coupon, but he couldn't play with them until he earned enough money to buy them from me ($10.39).  Fast forward to just over a week later, and this little man has been busting his booty to earn those cards! He has gone above and beyond with his chores picking up dog poo, cleaning the toilets, brushing the dogs, dusting, vacuuming, feeding the dogs/fish, helping fold laundry, making beds, etc. Finally, last night after scrubbing the toilets he earned enough money to buy his Pokemon cards! I think the pictures below can better tell you how excited he was!  I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty fun for me to see this little man work s...

Happy Hobbit Day!

Good morning! “‘What do you mean?’ he said. ‘Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?’” - Gandalf in The Hobbit (Ok, you got me, it isn't morning, but I had to fit one of my favorite GandaIf quotes in here somewhere!)  If you didn't already know, today is the birthday of some of my favorite literary characters, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins! I've been reading 'The Hobbit' to the kids, so they too could share in my joy of these beloved characters and their wonderful adventures created by Tolkein. Naturally, we had to celebrate Hobbit style with food aplenty! (This is the post where I totally nerd out...you have been forewarned!) “If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”   -The Hobbit Gio was the only one who was able to squeeze in second breakfast, and unfortunately we missed elevensies due to a ...

We're Baaaaaaack!

After an incredibly long hiatus I've decided to start back up with this long lost blog. I've decided to stop doing family posts on facebook, which is why I'm starting back up with this blog! I would like to keep interested friends and family up to date with our little family's adventures, or more likely, our ordinary, everyday life.  To kick this off here are back to school pictures! School started the day after Labor Day for us. Adam is going back to St. Joseph Catholic School as a middle school teacher. This is his 6th year teacher! Alida and Giovanni are going to Holy Family Academy. Alida (7yo) is now in the 2nd grade and Gio (5yo) is now in Kindergarten! We had a very strange first day of school, with the sky dark and glowing red from the massive wildfires that have been taking place about 45 min east of where we live. School ended up being cut short (pickup at 12:15) due to the impending fires and the town next to the kids school being put on level 2 evacuation n...
